Welcome to 2012!
I hope you all had a joyous Holiday season and are ready to hit the ground running for this new year. I know I certainly did and I certainly am! 🙂
Around this time last year I started a blog “tradition” of posting my personal beauty resolutions for 2011. Let’s see how I did and what I need to work on for 2012…
1 ) Even Out Skintone – Draw – My first goal from last year was to even out my skintone from years of past breakouts and sensitivities. Well, I’ve known for a while that my skin is sensitive to acids which are the primary ingredients used in almost all peels. So even though I went a professional, my skin still did not take well to the treatments. This year we are going to try a much lighter acid and I am going to try a holistic approach.
If you are sensitive to acids and/or do not need a deep peel products like Earth Science Papaya-Glycolic Gentle Skin Peel may just do the trick. For gentle lightening of dark spots, try combining with its partner, Earth Science Ginsium-C Skin Lightening Creme
2) Regular Manicures and Pedicures – WIN/lose – As I mentioned last year, my nails grow nicely, but since I work with my hands they often look haggard. I am going to rate myself 90% WIN and 10% lose on this Resolution because I did great with this throughout most of the year and then really lost the handle during the Holidays. In maintaining my nails I did discover a couple of great new products that l love and use regularly: Goe Oil, which is a super rich Jojoba Oil based moisturizing cream and Qtica Intense Overnight Foot Repair Balm which harnesses the healing power of honey to bring dry, unhappy tootsies back to life.
3) Keep My Brows Groomed – Lose – I do not think I looked at my brows even ONE time in 2011 😐 For lazy people such as myself, Smashbox has devised a new Travel Pen version of their amazing Brow Tech. Brow Tech to Go has a built in brush and a stick version of the Brow Tech brow filler. Just fill-in your brows, brush and go. Surely I can manage to do that this coming year.
4 ) Deep Condition My Hair Regularly – WIN – Curly/Coily/Kinky hair needs extra conditioning and moisture to keep it happy and mine is no exception. Other hair types – however – can also benefit from regular deep conditioning treatments, particularly if you heat-style your hair often. As mentioned before I tend to pamper my hair anyway, and in 2011 I kept the love-fest going. While Anita Grant Rhassoul Deep Condish will always be my “ganxta boo” I did branch out and try a few new conditioners as well and I particularly fell in love with Darcy’s Botanicals Deep Conditioning Mask. Darcy’s Botanicals hair mask combines rich vegetable oils with hair-loving plants such as Horsetail and Sea Kelp. For me the end result is hydrated and happy hair.
5 ) Drink More Water and Smile – WIN – On a photoshoot this past year one of the guys on the shoot mentioned he starts out each morning by drinking 2 quarts of water. He does it because he’s an athlete, but I have to tell that was one of the best beauty tips I’d received in a long time. It is a lot of water (4, 8 ounce glasses) but my skin and hair glow, and my body just feels better. It actually makes me feel more awake than starting out the morning with a cup of coffee (although trust me I do still have my morning cup of coffee). Water really is the Fountain of Youth!
Here’s to being your most fabtastic you in 2012!
