#MakeupBizTalk – The Makeup Show LA part 2

The Makeup Show Los Angeles Preview

James Vincent - Director of Education and Artistry for The Makeup Show

We at Makeup to Go! had the fortune of being able to attend the Preview and Mixer for this weekend’s Makeup Show. We let you know what will be taking place in education, now to tell you some things to look for in shopping.

OCC – As usual, OCC has a bevy of new colors added to their stable of Lip Tars. Get the new colors before anyone else at the show.

Kevyn Aucoin Cosmetics – I mentioned that they are introducing their comprehensive artists discount program at the show. As anyone familiar with the line knows they are amazing, but costly. Apparently in order to get folks hyped on the line, they will be selling products at substantial discounts. Like things that normally cost $65 available for $15-$25 level discounts. Yeah. I’ll be there.

Make Up For Ever – They are once again the Diamond Sponsor for the show, so they will have a ginormous booth once again this year. And no doubt said Ginormous Booth will be completely inundated the entire show time. IF you can make it through the crowds, MUFE will be debuting new product packaging on it’s popular color cremes, and 2 new products that will not be introduced to the public until the summer and will only be available at the show. ALSO new this year, MUFE will have all of it’s artistry and FX products available. That’s pretty cool because that includes items like the mighty Flash Palette.

Yves Saint Laurent – They are a new exhibitor this year and they are **finally** instituting a PPID program. You can apply at the show (so have your business cards and portfolio or some kind of proof with you).

Crown Brush – Crown is a staple at the shows, but new this year is a new line of brushes which are comparable to some of MAC’s most popular brushes. This is a good thing for anyone who has ever been asked if they know the “equivalent to MAC #-whatever”.

While our schedules are erratic due to this being a heavy Awards weekend, Makeup to Go! will be there at some point on both days of the show to keep you updated on all the happenings. We’ll see you at the show!

A Tale of Two Trade Shows

The Powder Group’s Makeup Show (TMUS) vs. Makeup Magazine’s International Makeup Artist Trade Show (IMATS) 2009

This post is intended for all the aspiring pro makeup artists in the house. Every industry has it’s trade shows and the beauty biz is no exception. Being a professional in the industry, I’ve always felt a need to attend them as often as schedule permits, if only to shop and walk around and see what’s new in makeup-landia. IBS – the International Beauty Show – services the salon professional. Being a media artist (Print, TV, Film) I never really attend IBS. However there are two shows vying for attention in my spectrum of the business; The Makeup Show (TMUS) and the International Makeup Artists Trade Show (IMATS) Continue reading →
